NEW ZEALAND BUSINESS ROUNDTABLE

As an advocacy group, the New Zealand Business Roundtable has taken a stand against MMP. A submission to a parliamentary review committee called for another referendum. The report argued MMP gives minority parties undue influence, is detrimental on policy making, and makes it harder to get rid of unpopular governments.

Roger Kerr is Executive Director of the Business Roundtable. He has been actively involved in the debate over economic policy in New Zealand. Before joining the Roundtable, Kerr was a senior figure in both the New Zealand Treasury and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Roger Kerr was interviewed in Wellington November 11, 2003.
